Six years in public accounting — three at Withum Smith+Brown and three as internal audit manager at a $400M manufacturer. Led journal entry testing on over 60 audit engagements before building the first AuditPulsar prototype in 2023. CPA licensed in Massachusetts. BS in Accounting from Northeastern University.

Five years at Palantir building financial data pipelines for institutional clients. Left to co-found AuditPulsar after meeting James at a fintech meetup in Boston. Designed the ML anomaly scoring architecture and the SAP and NetSuite connector infrastructure. MS in Computer Science from MIT, focus on applied ML.

Derek Walsh

VP of Engineering

Previously led backend engineering at Aprio's technology practice, where he built integrations between audit workflow tools and client ERP systems. Joined AuditPulsar in Q1 2024 to scale the platform infrastructure. Responsible for the SOC 2 certification process and the multi-tenant data isolation architecture.

How we work

Small and intentional

We are 7 people. We intend to stay small until the product is right. Every person on the team has direct interaction with the customers we serve. We don't have a "customer success team" insulating us from feedback.

Boston-based

We work out of a shared space in the Prudential Center area, close to the accounting firms and financial institutions that are our most important customers. In-person is our default for product conversations. Remote for execution.

Domain expertise first

We interview candidates on audit methodology, not just engineering skills. If you can't explain why period-end journal entries are a higher-risk population, you'll have trouble reasoning about what the product needs to detect. We hire people who understand the problem domain.
